Readers! I’m so excited about this point in the story. Do you know why? This is the very last hand-drawn page of On Campus Comic. Every page from this point forward was drawn digitally, on my beautiful Huion tablet! (I did a few pages on the tablet prior to this, but this is the point where hand-drawn art stopped altogether).
I love the control and flexibility that digital art gives me. I love what it does for my design possibilities. I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to jump on board.
I’d also like to give a shout-out to my faithful Plustek scanner, a gigantic beast of a machine that scanned all my (large) hand-drawn pages one by freaking one over the first years of On Campus. Rest easy, you beautiful, monstrous machine. I hope you enjoy that big fluffy office shelf in the sky.

There’s never a to-do list so long that fate can’t intervene with one more item.
I picture Felicity as someone who has limited empathy for those under stress. I think, up to this point in her life, the world has been pretty predictable for Felicity. She has a personality that makes it easy for her to play by the world’s rules, and she doesn’t quite “get” why other people struggle more than she does.
But don’t worry, I won’t leave Felicity as a two-dimensional character forever. There hasn’t been much opportunity yet to explore her personality, but just wait, faithful readers. Just wait.

I just love backgrounds! I love the details they reveal about their character’s lives, and how they can recede behind the main plot point but still say so much. This dorm room background was fun to think up, and the grayscale strategy to make it unobtrusive was also fun.
It may be time to start placing bets on whether Lex will successfully confess her feelings before Christmas break or not.

There are few things in life more exciting than that stage where you are just starting to learn about your crush’s life.
Yes, Steven has a lava lamp. Because it was the year 2000 and of course he did.

So maybe Lex’s night isn’t turning into a total dumpster fire after all.
Have you ever had a clever friend do you a favor to give you some alone time with your crush? I’ve been on the receiving end and the giving end of this phenomenon. Matchmakers of the world unite!

Nothing cures homework blues like a good dose of your crush.
By the way, who else has fond memories of an old hang-out spot like Lex’s “Grease Trap”? Maybe it was a college snack bar or a diner in town. One of my BFFs and I used to go to Breightie’s diner in our hometown and eat ourselves sick on blueberry pancakes.
What about for you?
